About the Children's Music School

Children respond naturally to music – they love to sing, dance and play musical games.
The Children’s Music School works with this instinctive drive, building confidence, enriching learning and developing creativity.
Music is of huge importance for a child’s wellbeing; every child can have a rich musical life.An introduction to music that fosters confidence, a love of music and the desire to learn is what we offer – at whatever level, from beginners to intermediate and more advanced.
All lessons are underpinned by thoughtful and intelligent planning, grounded in the Kodály method. Lessons are bespoke to the children’s needs.
Children (and adults) can really ‘get hold’ of the mysteries of music, understand and analyse how things ‘work’ and use new found knowledge in creative ways that bring excitement and a sense of achievement. The art of listening is fostered as is questioning and enquiry. Personal initiative is encouraged – seeing connections and possibilities. Musicianship skills are the bedrock, so great preparation for studying a specific instrument.
‘I really like the way Fiona builds up music so the children understand it fundamentally’ (James, parent)
Classes are always fun and tailored to the children’s needs. Our son has learnt so much, without even realising he is learning!
